Reptiles are ectothermic ("cold-blooded"), which means that instead of producing their own body heat, they depend on external sources for warmth " like the sun. This heat energy is used to digest their food, maintain bodily function, and stay generally healthy. Since reptiles don't produce their own heat, we must provide the heat they need with heat lamps.

Keep your pet reptile at optimum temperature with help from the Zoo Med Combo Deep Dome Lamp Fixture. This lamp is great for creating extra-large basking areas, promoting more even heating and better circulation. If you need nighttime heat, you can use one side for the day bulb and one side for a ceramic heat emitter!

Each dome can be controlled independently with separate cords and in-line on/off switches.

Instructions:

Insert required bulb combinations and ensure they are securely screwed into the sockets. Plug both cords into outlets and/or timers as needed and test on/off switches, and ensure that each bulb comes on, take care to not touch the actual bulbs. Turn both fixtures off and place piece on top of the mesh screen covering your terrarium, ensuring that you have the fixture above the basking area on the extreme right or left of the enclosure to create a healthy temperature gradient. Switch both fixtures on to test everything is working.

For best results, use the Zoo Med ReptiTemp Digital Infrared Thermometer to measure the temperature at your pet's basking area to make sure they are getting the right temps for their needs.
